SMARTeen Driver kicks off National Teen Safe Driver Month with Art Contest. As part of the Nevada kick-off celebration SMARTeen DRIVER founder, Sarah Lee Marks launched and funded a citywide art contest in collaboration with the Clark County School Districts’ Community-School Partnership program. “Beverly Mason was instrumental in helping get all the art and driver’s education instructors involved. Teachers Soren Anderson, Tony Kyriacou and Michael Grady really helped their young artists fulfill the concept of the theme:

“WHAT AUTO SAFETY MEANS TO ME.”

An awards ceremony was hosted by Findlay KIA where local, regional and national officials including Congresswoman Dina Titus and State Senator Mark Manendo addressed the crowd. First Place winner Amy Terry, 2nd Place Alia Ramsouer and 3rd place Conner Keating each received cash, gift cards, commendations and publication in the official comic book of SMARTeen DRIVER. The books are available FREE at any Findlay Toyota, KIA, Honda, FIAT or Chevrolet location. certificate commendation smarteen driver-sliderpc In addition, NDOT and the Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety recognized the effort to bring SMARTeen DRIVER to more teens in CLARK COUNTY by committing to the funding of an educational grant to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada for the school year 2016-2017. The clinics will be held during school breaks, off-days and vacations, and are free to the public, age 14+. A complete schedule will be announced once the school year begins this fall.
