NO MORE DMV TEXT APPOINTMENTS After months of debate and many failed efforts at fixing the system, the Nevada DMV has disconnected the texting system for appointments. The lines are back to winding around the building as a single officer stops prospective clients before letting folks in one at a time. Once inside the line to the information desk serpentines through four lanes. If you are going to the physically-challenged station, driver’s license permit test, or appointment for your live drive test, you to go straight to the front door and declare where you are going, while incurring the wrath of those waiting for a number. Or you can go in one of the side doors and bypass the line if you need to go take your permit test or drive appointment.

REAL ID… Sorry,

Need a drivers license or ID card, get in line with everyone else, you need a number to go get in that line… Something that should clearly be changed.

TEXTING ALERT still AVAILABLE at Nevada DMV

Once you have your line number, you can ask to be sent a text message, so you can leave, the text/line number serves as if a placeholder, as the wait will easily be an hour or more. HOWEVER, if you fail to make it back to your station within a minute of the text, you do NOT get to REJOIN the line again. You get to start over, out front, waiting to get inside. No longer will DMV staff stay later waiting for “REJOINS” to show up, a notorious part of the previous system that led to bottle-necks and no-shows.

Can’t bear the thought of all this time wasted?
