MyCarlady test drives and reviews the 2012 Porsche Boxster, finale.
The 2012 Boxster is the last in the series as a new body arrives in Spring 2012 as a 2013, or maybe it’s a 2012.5 Porsche hasn’t really said yet… but either way, the mid-engine Boxster 6 cyl still packs a lot of fun, and frolic in this two-seater roadster. This may be the last year of the 3.2L flat 6cyl, so consider this in your shopping decision. The next incarnation is said to be a smaller, 4cyl. at almost the same price, and better fuel economy, but performance is a guess.
But alas, I transgress, back to the 2012!
The 7 speed PDK is as quick as any manual and actually faster than this old clutch-er could put out on the track. Thank you Porsche for the heated and cooled, memory power driver and passenger seat, a nod to those of us begging for some creature comforts.
The Blue-tooth, Sat. radio and Navigation are also a welcome upgrade, along with the latest Bose stereo incarnation. You also have the ability to custom order (2013) almost every component to your liking, including a custom color to match your eyes, for another grand or so.
Porsche Boxster 2012 Special Editions
Porsche has released an all BLACK on Black Limited Edition and SPYDER version, in keeping with their legacy of unique collectibles for the die-hard enthusiast. These one-offs are alleged to hold a higher resale value that standard units… 20 years later.
Don’t miss an opportunity to drive a 2012 Porsche Boxster.
Take a turn at the wheel this fall in one of the many Porsche Track Experiences to be held across the country. Contact your local Porsche dealer to inquire about the event dates and times in your area.
