Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas is set to launch a new era in Porsche with the 2015 Porsche Macan.

Pre-Memorial Day festivities begin this Thursday, May 22nd, 2014 as Porsche enthusiasts, owners, Vegas VIPS and Porsche executives come together for the official reveal of the latest Porsche creation: MACAN. Pronounced MA-Cahn (like Pecan with an M), the latest luxury, sport suv is a perfect combination of fun and function. Aptly titled, “Life, intensified”, you can see your Macan doing the daily work trek and then making the Clark Kent change to night life or outdoors wo-man with ease. I had the opportunity to drive the Macan S around Las Vegas for a day, and suffice to say, I really, really didn”t want to give it back. The 8 speed transmission responds instantly to the paddle-shifters and the gas pedal. You forget this is an suv, other than the height from the ground. The wide stance keeps the wind sheer off the Macan as it cuts and curves on the track and the highway giving a nod to its’ Porsche racing heritage. As an AWD suv with a tow capacity of over 5000 lbs., I imagined challenging my former Jeep Rubicon to a Moab trail match.            

If Looks could kill… They’re gonna be jealous of the Macan.

The styling is a slicker version of the Cayenne, with a 911 Turbo back-end, sans the spoiler. Although it would be kinda-cool if the top spoiler went up at 75 mph.  The interior is sports car cool, body-fitting without being cramped. The ergonomic design is pure Panamera cock-pit wide across with lots of buttons on the center  console. It doesn’t matter how young you are, this ride makes you feel 10 years cooler. Top in its class for safety. The auto-stop feature saves gas at idle, and a future 4cyl turbo will increase the fuel economy from the 19-23 rating of the S.  There is a Turbo version available, adding “Bat out of  Hell” to your vocabulary.

The back seat is a tad small for larger 6′ adults, but for the kids, car-seats and family pets, it works fine. The split folding bench allows for full service family, fun and  function.  The rear cargo space is deceiving from the outside, but reveals enough room for the typical trunk load: golf clubs, bike, camping gear and luggage can all find a spot. The wrap around sculpture rear lights wide spaced tires and lowered belt line make the Macan out as a tough guy. Little brother to the Cayenne and Panamera with a touch of bad-boy sass.
