2019 Acura RDX Sneak Peek by MyCarlady The dealerships got a quick visit from Acura reps this weekend in Henderson and Las Vegas, Nevada sharing the all new and improved 2019 Acura RDX. A staple in the Acura lineup, the RDX fits nicely between smaller crossovers and large SUV’s with 3rd seats like the Acura MDX, the RDX big brother. I was fortunate to be on hand for the debut at Findlay Acura Henderson. My official SNEAK PEAK video is here:

NO VIDEO on 2019 Acura RDX TEST DRIVES allowed.

The official Acura rep asked that we not video the test drive but I can tell you the scoop here. The actual 2019 RDX models won’t arrive at dealerships for at least another month but… I can say the 2.0L TURBO matched with the 10 speed transmission and AWD is quick and smooth with no obvious TURBO LAG or laziness. While they offered no official stats during the visit. I would say the 0-6 is impressive for an SUV. Certainly in class with the Lexus NX2000, the sportiness includes an option for handling, be it comport, sport and in either, no body roll on curves.

2019 RDX Responsive 10 speed transmission.

The engine offers a throaty sound which some in my car found loud, but others thought the rumble was aggressive. Not exactly Jaguar exhaust tunes but reasonable if you like that growl response to stepping on the gas hard. Once on the asphalt it settles down and purrs along nicely.

SAFETY, TECHNOLOGY & STYLE wrap the 2019 Acura RDX

The entire ADVANCED package is packed with enough tech to keep the most hardened must-have-latest-and-greatest busy for weeks. The heads-up display (only in the Advanced), along with front and rear warning systems, alerts and built-in vehicle controllers will keep drivers safe, in their lanes and away from hazards. While I couldn’t test the CRASH AVOIDANCE system real-time, it is there when you need it. A new audio, navigation and control system screen is smaller. It is permanent, but there is no obvious glare present, and it sits lower than that of the Audi, Caddy or Mercedes Benz. It is positioned for the driver, yet not obtrusive to the entire windshield and A pillars. The color quality, combination of split, and 3d options makes it infinitely adaptable to any driver from the steering wheel or a finger glide mouse pad on the console. The audio system with surround sound in the headliners, doors and back hatch is impressive. A pano-moon-roof slides all the way back or stops along the way for rear seat passengers not interest in full-on sum. A nice pop-up windshield helps keep the noise and wind from whipping into the cabin. It’s roomy enough for five adults, as long as everyone is average girth. Two large car seats will work for a family of four with room for the kid-gear but NO third row seat. The capless gas filler, run-flat kit (Advanced gets spare) and phone charging pad are new this year along with the MDX-like grill. The chrome accents wrap around the body raising the side profile and highlighting the rear-hatch where brake-lights sit up at the top of the beltline. Standard 19″ tires fill the wheel well with a nicely patterned alloy rim.

A SPEC option in new 2019 ACURA RDX

The A SPEC option is primarily a color and ground effects trim level following the success of the 2018 Acura TLX A SPEC. Look for the popular RED and Grey leather with deviated accent stitching, painted or dark chrome upsized rims and more… Prices are rumored to start around $38k range for the two-wheel base model. You also have options for Technology, A-SPEC and Advanced packages all available with a side option of AWD for those in the snow. Come back in a few weeks when I give you the ON-THE-ROAD version of my actual test-drive sans the Acura reps. ]]>
