2022 4th of July holiday car sales, uneventful.

Imagine a holiday car sale without tents, hot dogs or test-drives.  Most dealerships have barely one of each model they sell on the lot. Shopping for a car can best be done at home on the computer. Las Vegas, Henderson and Pahrump are struggling to meet car shoppers demands.

First, find a dealership with a real picture of the actual car you want, IN STOCK.

2nd. Call the dealership and ask for a fleet or internet sales manager. Check to see if the car is still available for purchase.  Tell the staff member you are driving from FAR FAR AWAY and want to be sure you can drive it when you arrive.

Ask if you can leave a deposit over the phone so they don’t sell it before you get there.

3rd. Grab your checkbook, Title to your trade, if you have one or loan statement if you are still making payments. Drive to the dealership ASAP!

4th. If you can’t find what you want, at a reasonable price, build it. Take your build sheet to the closest dealer and Order the car. Place the deposit and wait.  Drive to the dealership after the holiday is over. There are no big price changes on orders.

Such is the life of a car shopper in July of 2022.

Popular brands are typically order only, with expected delivery of that order months away. Some orders will be converted to 2023 models by the end of July.

No rebates, no incentives and higher interest rates on auto loans.

USED CAR vs. NEW CAR DEBATE.

Used cars are selling for the price they did at MSRP when they were new. If you MUST buy a car this week or next, used may be be your only option. Try to find a dealer offering a new car in stock at MSRP. Consider having it shipped from another part of the country. If that fails, buy the used car, only if you intend to KEEP it for 4 years. Purchase GAP protection.  At the prices of used cars you are under-water before you leave the lot, unless you paid cash for it.

Used cars will continue to slide in value as new car inventories stabilize over the next year. As long as there are no new world crisis.

4th of July Holiday Car Sales – no picnic.

Go enjoy the friends, family, food and festivities this 4th of July, because there are no holiday car deals to celebrate.
