Citizens of Nevada have complained of waiting up to 7 hours to get a vehicle registered when using the new texting system for Nevada DMV.
“S” for Status Updates adds hours to DMV line
In the most recent twist to the DMV automated system in Nevada, it appears the system will arbitrarily put you into the WRONG category, if you request “additional time” as in “M” for more on the texting platform. One user reported being sent messages the wait was 18 min. then 19 min. and after an hour of waiting, the system sent her to the WRONG counter.
The representative told her that station could only do “DRIVERS LICENSE PERMITS”. She was then told the hour she had already waited, would be deducted from her wait.
The system then posted an additional 3.5 hours.
The system says they processed just over 111 people in 2 hours?
According to Nevada DMV personnel, when the “SYSTEM” gets overloaded it sticks people into the wrong line, further aggravating the situation and frustrating the clients.
CHECKING PAPERWORK before getting in the building.
The line outside the Henderson DMV was 2 hrs long at 8:00 am on Wednesday.
The reason: DMV personnel are now checking paperwork before allowing individuals into the building.
This is adding to the wait for those who have their paperwork correctly prepared.

Registering your car at Nevada DMV
1. Don’t wait til the last day to register.
2. Get all your documents ahead of time and check expiration dates on the insurance and smog (90 days).
3. Out of state transfers must have a smog and vehicle inspection form completed, and bring in your out of state plates with you.
4. If you are registering the car for someone else, you will need an authorization form, found here.
5. If you do not get into the building the SAME day you text, you start over.
