The old CHRYSLER says the NEW CHRYSLER will honor all warranty, extended-service contracts and LEMON-LAW BUYBACK issues, as it emerges from bankruptcy. However, a recent poster to this blog had a different story about warranty claims made across national borders. This letter is printed in it’s entirety with the permission of the author. Name with-held for privacy. Chrysler feel free to contact me if you want to make this man happy. READ ON: “I have an extended “unlimited mileage” 2-year bumper to bumper warranty I got after applying the heat on them because my 5500 keeps breaking down. They [chrysler] gave it to me to avoid litigation and having to buy it back. I drive this truck commercially. I broke down in Edmonton, AB – Canada and it needed a new turbocharger (3rd time). They checked with tech-line and all and then proceeded to get the recommendation to change the turbo. When I went to get it the next day, they told me that Chrysler Warranty USA refused to pay them directly in Canada and that I would have to pay up front to get reimbursed later. That was a month and a half ago and I had to pay on the spot $4,350.00 from my own pocket. When I returned to California, I called them and after being on hold for a long time, someone in India responded with all the typical questions and after I explained to him twice and gave him my contract number he agreed to give me a fax number and an address where to mail the invoice and proof of payment. Two weeks after that and after the usual battery consuming hold time, I was transferred to someone in US, who told me that it takes up to 60 days to get reimbursed. When I said that this was not acceptable because I had to fork out the money myself she said: “That’s not open for negotiation. You will get reimbursed when you get reimbursed” and with Chrysler being in a Chapter 11 BK, I instantly became a Chrysler unsecured creditor. I am still waiting for my money back and given the state of the economy I really need it like every day’s bread. So, because I have a small balance with Chrysler Business Credit financing arm, I fired a letter to them describing the issue and the woman’s statement to me and proceeded to state that they will get no money until I get mine, together with interest at the same rate my bank card pays when I charge to it. I further stated to them that this is “also not open for negotiation” Let’s see how they like it this time. Before owning this truck, I owned an equipment lease-finance company for 32 years and I have good knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code and FTC rules. It is now time for me to have fun. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me. Best regards, A R.V
