HELLO LAS VEGAS!  Dealerships advertising their inventory LIQUIDATION of CHRYSLER-JEEP-DODGE cars and trucks are pounding your phones, radios and newspapers this Memorial Day weekend.

CAN YOU REALLY BUY a NEW 2009 DODGE,CHRYSLER or JEEP for 50% off?

THE TRUTH: IT HURTS!  NO. The reality is dealers are trying to keep people coming in the doors by advertising CRAZY prices, hoping you will switch to a lesser vehicle or something USED, when you find out the best deal you can make is not 50% of the MSRP.  The reality is you can probably get a deal at invoice or a few bucks less, plus the deduction for REBATES.

(2007 and 2008 new models may be as much as 60% off but check your KBB.com and call me first.) BUT WATCHOUT for lower trade-in appraisals or additional fees.  The behind-the-scenes legal moves between Chrysler and their Black-listed dealers is stuff for the movies, but in the end, CHRYSLER has PROMISED to take all the 2009 inventory back from the dealerships that won’t merge to become Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep stores. The costs are significant for the dealers who have invested heavily in buildings, personnel and customer retention. Chrysler won’t “buy out” dealers, so the scramble is on to merge or find a different brand for the building.  That means nothing to you. If you expect to make a “BID” or “OFFER” of less than 50% -75% off MSRP, don’t expect much reaction from the dealer.  There is SO LITTLE inventory on the HOT PRODUCTS: Charger, Challenger, JEEPS, Town & Country vans, the dealers are going to use every play in their book to make some profit on the few buyers actually credit-worthy to buy. So if you aren’t into “playing car dealer games” stay out of the showrooms and CALL/EMAIL me.  I’ll tell you what the true price is and help you get the RIGHT deal without the BS*. _____________________________________________________ Sarah Lee is an automotive executive with 20+ years of experience.
