HYBRID technology consumer acceptance, which comes first?

[/caption]    The media has climbed all over recent reports that the Obama administration is the largest consumer of hybrid and alternative energy vehicles, making the question of consumer acceptance of hybrid vehicles one of false prophecies or mis-information?   Recently The Las Vegas Business Press asked the local Las Vegas business community: “Are you ready to buy a hybrid or all-electric vehicle yet or do you think the technology needs to be developed further to make a purchase worthwhile for you?   My abbreviated quote is linked here: https://www.mycarlady.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/lvbusinesspress-12-6-2010.pdf   [caption id="attachment_3238" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="The Peapod electric, where is it today?"][/caption]   My full explanation and opinion on the hybrid vehicle acceptance debate and what the future holds is posted below. I welcome all of you to weigh in on your feelings in answering the question, not only as a business person but also from a personal perspective.  For the record, our family garage includes a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid (that hates Vegas summers), and two other 4 cyl vehicles averaging 24mpg city and 32 hwy. ”   “The reality is as soon as gas goes over $3.00 a gallon nationally, more hybrids and electrics will appear like: CHEVY VOLT, NISSAN LEAF, (Hyundai and Kia enter the race next year), moving into full production on consumer demand.   The lithium batteries will increase range, lose weight and become more stable, aiding in the consumer shift. Note the over-demand of the new sporty Honda CR-Z which has taken off among the GEN X which found the older hybrids stodgy looking, while many mature (+50) Prius buyers are on their second one.   The public is waiting for the luxury (TESLA and FISKER KARMA) electric plug-in to have better range and infra-structure before they make the transition, but believe me, they will, as seen in the NISSAN LEAF acceptance and order bank, tax incentives for a power box in the garage and plugs in hotel valets.     The public is ready to accept the technology.  I predict this change to appear in 10% of NEW car purchases by 2013, given production can meet demand,  the sale price comes closer to the NET $25k range, after tax credits and gas stays over $3.00 a gallon consistently.” — SARAH LEE , CEO of MYCARLADY.com   ———————————————————————————————-  If you need any car buying, selling, trading or financing assistance on any new or used vehicle, please do not hesitate to email me at sarahlee@mycarlady.com,mvides422@gmail.com,carlady@cox.net or give me a call; 702-521-7546 I’m here to help you with any of your automotive needs and advice is ALWAYS free.
