Latest 2011 Toyota RECALL: SIENNA VAN.
The latest Toyota recall is for the emergency or parking brake on the minivan, approx. 94,000 in the US.
According to Toyota, in some cases drivers had damaged a bracket connected to the brake lights by pressing on the parking brake. That could cause the brake lights to stay on, or in some cases cause the vehicle’s regular brake to be partially engaged at all times, causing noise and vibration. If the condition goes unrepaired, Sienna drivers could experience minimized braking power.”
No accidents or fatalities have been linked to this campaign, but Toyota in there ever diligence and effort to restore their image, is sending letter after the first of the year, as parts become available.” As the 2011 Sienna is a totally new design from previous models, the only vehicles involved are this year’s inventory built before November 5th, 2010, most of which were shipped to dealers this summer. Toyota recently announced a 2 year free maintenance plan with the purchase/lease of any new Toyota model. Free scheduled maintenance has previously been the domain of luxury model BMW and Audi, the later dropping the “freebie” for 2010-2011 models.
