Roos ‘n More. If you live in So. Nevada you have probably been watching the story of the CLARK COUNTY inspectors vs.
ROOS ‘n More,
the small family -owned zoo located in MOAPA. Let me add a little background to the story. I’ve know Valerie and Jay Holt since moving here in 1994.
They were among my very first clients and friends, now family. They are Lola’s (my favorite Bishcon) personal doctors.
I’ve watched their two great children; Haley and Zack grow up and learn to drive.
But aside from two great people doing what they love and trying to run a family business…
To say what is going on here lately after four years of barely a notice of their operation, reeks of something more sinister.
But kudos to our community for rising-up and saying NO WAY. Val, the animals and legions of volunteers have educated thousands of Clark County school kids. They teach and share an interactive experience designed to engage and learn respect for wildlife. For many of these kids, this is their first experience seeing an exotic animal in person,
much less touching or feeding one. But the story doesn’t end with Zappo’s and the recent fundraising.
The county keeps adding new requirements, from public bathrooms (the first “issue) to now “a paved 100 car parking lot.”
As the permit process grinds on, they can’t open to the public for more than 40 people at a time, by appointment.
But the animals still need to eat. This could drag on for 6 months I’m told.
Please watch this video, and if you are inclined, invite them to your business. Hold your own fundraiser. I guarantee, your family, friends and patrons will show-up. I’m working on something with one of the dealerships, so keep your eyes and ears open. Take your kids or grand-kids to the next fundraiser you hear about.
Or make an appointment to visit as a “group”. or send a donation. Name a animal baby after yourself or a loved one.
I promise, these animals will tug at your heart. Thank you Las Vegas.
