FTC alert: The FTC’s latest effort to become consumer advocates by holding town hall meetings across the country starts Tuesday 4/12 with a day long discussion in Detroit. This comes as the car dealers were released from any obligations regarding approvals/denials and rates during the recent consumer financial legislation. The focus of this media event is “THE ROAD AHEAD: how car dealers mistreat, mislead and generally trick consumers in the finance office.” You know, after you have haggled 10 hours and think you have a deal, then you trot into the “back office” where they try to sell you warranties, rust-proof and LoJack. Well NOT if you have ME to protect you, but there are a few dealers still playing those games. (call or email me and tell you the ones in LV/Henderson). I’m not sure if they are coming to Vegas on this traveling road-show, however, your information will become part of the national record-enshrined in the freedom of information act, so use a spare email and phone, just in case they get hacked like Epsilon. However, there is a website for you to share your thoughts, experiences and opinions at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/workshops/motorvehicles/ Comment via email here: https://ftcpublic.commentworks.com/ftc/motorvehicleroundtables1 —————————————————————————————- Now for a goodie…from ME MYCARLADY-SARAHLEE FRIEND me on FACE BOOK (if you haven’t already, OR LIKE one of the articles on my website and get a Gift Certificate for your next oil change!*  Here is the link: www.mycarlady.com. SPOKEO.com our friends Philip and Julie shared this SNOOPING website with us last night and explained how to REMOVE ourselves from the most INVASIVE web platform I’ve EVER seen. This website tells the world your income, house value, location, family members, job and that’s just the free info.

To remove yourself go to www.spokeo.com and put in your name. It will ask you to identify the state, and you will see yourself. I was listed twice, for each home I owned in LV.  TO REMOVE YOUSELF: Click and copy the URL address that appears in the address bar and SCROLL to the bottom of the page. Click on PRIVACY. Scroll down past the advertisement that CHARGES to remove you. There will be 3 spaces to fill. Put the URL you just copied in the URL space. Fill in the other two and submit. They will send you an email to confirm your want to be removed.  Check back in a day and you should be removed from their database.
CREDIT CARD PROCESSING— UN-REGULATED BANKING. You would think with all the recent legislation on banking this industry would have had some rules applied, but NOPE. This is the cornerstone for our economy, fuels the credit card reports and is totally unregulated by the government. Worst than that it is probably one of the most complicated fee and contract systems to understand when it comes to costs, and customer service is another story.  The worst part is EVERY SPRING and FALL, twice a year, there seems to be a new fee or change in the tiers that cut into your/my profit.  I also learned that most big banks do NOT handle their own merchant processing; they subcontract it out to a 3rd party! Hello Middleman!  How do I know?  I am researching vulnerable areas of shrink or leakage in small business for an upcoming article for a publication to be named later.  I’ll give you a sneak peak though: Heartland Payment Systems seems to have the best customer satisfaction and least expensive programs. ELLIOTT FUNDING SYSTEMS offers factoring on receivables in addition to CC processing if you get in a bind. Call me if you want more details. 702-521-7546.
Earth Day is being celebrated the weekend of the 17th  and there are lots of events around town including Springs Preserve, Wetlands Park, Summerlin and demonstrations w/ lots of free food samples going on over at Whole Foods  (@wholefoods on Twitter). For exercise you can help pick-up trash all over the city just Google (r) Earth Day Las Vegas for details. And check out ROOS ‘n MORE every weekend at Springs Preserve where Dr. Valerie Holt introduces her zoo babies to the kids (big & little) of Las Vegas.  You can also go out to the zoo (in Moapa), visit them online: www.roosnmore.org VIDEO of the MONKEY!
