NEVADA CAR SEAT RESTRAINTS LAW to CHANGE Jan. 2022

The Nevada 81st Legislature passed new laws regarding child car seat restraints beginning January 1, 2022.  The latest rules in NEVADA CAR SEAT LAW include a minimum age of TWO years old for any child to be forward facing.  The latest Nevada Car Seat restraints law also insists all children must be properly restrained in the back seat until reaching a weight of 80 lbs and 57″ tall.  As a result, age is no longer a consideration for changing seat styles or positions.  Parents traveling with children need to know these new Nevada laws, effective January 2022.

Fines range from $50 for a first offense to $1000 and a suspend drivers license on a third ticket.

Parents caught without proper child restraints or unrestrained, face stiff financial consequences.

HOW TO DECIDE WHEN TO MOVE YOUR CHILD TO A BOOSTER?

Your child should be able to sit comfortably, not fidgeting with the seat belt, leaning forward or slouching during an extended road trip.

Booster seats allow the child to sit up higher, which gives them closer alignment to an adults sizing in a seat belt. The three point seat belt should fit across the child’s shoulder laying flat across the chest, meanwhile, the lap belt  lays across the hips, barely touching the thighs.

NEW BOOSTER SEAT TECHNOLOGY.

Booster seats come with and without lower anchors to hold the cushion/booster in place.  Low booster seats range in weight from 1 lb. to 4 lbs.  The light ones are made of special compression foam* which squishes down into a pouch the size of a paperback.  The more popular hard plastic-molded booster seats can weigh up to 4 lbs.  Inflatable booster seats are popular among parents using alternative transportation with young children.
