DMV Nevada Motor Vehicle Department Nevada DMV to reopen soon…

May 21, 2020-  DMV of Nevada announced today that they will begin training their staff on the new COVid protocols May 26th. Yet they DID NOT announce a date for the reopening. The NV DMV did however, publish a series of guidelines. See below a partial list of what you can do at the DMV, when Phase 2 starts. With sneeze guards in place, employees masked and gloved, you will be asked to wear the same. BRING YOUR OWN PEN and leave non-essential family members at home.  Kevin Malone, the Public Information Officer for Nevada’s Motor Vehicle Department said any transaction that can be done online or at a kiosk, should be. But, Malone failed to mention the inspection stations located outside DMV. The mighty squad of VIN inspectors regularly handle paperwork and scan bar codes on vehicles. All these things in close proximity to the driver.  Vin inspections are required for all vehicles coming into Nevada which have never been registered here before or sold by a NV dealership, BEFORE registration can be completed. This process is different and sometimes in addition to a smog or emissions test. There is no way an inspector can maintain social distancing of 6 feet away from the driver, unless the driver parks his car and walks away.  At publication time, I had not heard back from NV DMV about the inspector situation.

When DMV of Nevada reopens, NO APPOINTMENTS will be taken. READ more:

Maintaining social distancing outside the building means long lines 6′ apart to “CHECK-IN, then wait in your car to be called.
