DMV Registration Decal Thieves troll for your TAG! There are unsavory characters who never legally register their vehicles choosing to steal license plate decals instead. These thieves troll parking lots looking for newly minted decals. Once they spot one, they sidle up to your bumper, spray on some adhesive remover and snatch your sticker or “decal” in seconds. The truth is, unless you make a habit of regularly checking your license plate, you will probably never miss the stolen decal until it’s too late. A friend of mine was pulled over by law enforcement late at night. Fortunately, a copy of the current registration prevented a ticket. However, the next morning his plans for a fun weekend away were stalled by a trip to DMV and a 3 hour wait to replace the decal.

MORE helpful DMV REGISTRATION hints.
- Remove the old decals before putting the new one on. Clean the surface with alcohol to be sure the decal adheres smoothly.
- Using a razor blade, cut through the plastic decal in a corner to corner, top and side to side action.
- Paint over the tagg with clear nail polish. This will make the tag brittle.
- Placing a clear license plate cover over your rear plate will keep the decal safe and the license plate clean.
