Since my last post on used car prices stabilizing and certain segments of the luxury used car market dropping back by 10% by second quarter ’11, I have found the cars under $8k-$10k have gotten considerable harder to find, especially on the west coast and in Las Vegas.
Why? Because the economy has turned so many of us into savers, unwilling to buy a new car unless we absolutelymust, making available trade-in/ used/pre-owned auto inventory of older model cars near impossible to find at reasonable prices.
New car deals are now ripe for the picking, if you have even moderate credit scores in the high 600’s. That said I have found a few nice used cars available for under $8k. These are a 1999 Toyota Corolla with 89k miles for 6299 and a 2003 Honda Civic EX with a Moonroof and 99k miles for $6995.00. I also have a 2002 Chevy Blazer 4 door 4wd for $5999 with only 87k miles.
